The Build
Current Layout
This is a Classic Roadster’s  427C. The car is 75-80% complete and is titled as a 2006 Custom.  The
chassis rolled of the line in 1992 and basically sat in boxes until I purchased it in April 2005. The car has
been on the road the last three years and currently has 1400 miles on it. I originally was going to use a 5
speed TKO 600, but went with a race built AOD (shift kit, full Kevlar bands and red alto race clutches)
against my better judgment. It has been through a couple of them now.

Amazingly, the car has very good street manners and can sit in traffic for hours without overheating. I
have been getting around 14 mpg (93 oct)… and that is with driving around town with a few stoplight
drag races. The car is ridiculously fast, and if you don’t respect it…it will get away from you in a heart
beat…

I have not been to the track, but based off the other vehicles I own/owned, I would say this car will go 0-
60 in under 5 seconds and mathematically, should run in the low 10 second 1/4 range… and will top out
around 165-170mph. It does quite well coming out of the hole, but if you unload the suspension for a
second, you can lay rubber as far as your pocketbook allows.

So with that said, the 25% left to complete it is replace/repair the tranny, finish the body work/paint and
install the rest of the interior. This is the third Cobra replica I have been involved in building and is by far
the best of them. It is 4 ½ inches longer, 2 inches wider, doors are 6 inches longer, the tunnel width is
reduced and the seats have been recessed 4 inches in the floor. This may not sound like much, but if you
have ever been in an original Cobra, they are cramped and you sit angled 15 degrees out, which make
them very uncomfortable. Plus at 6’ or more, your head will be above the top of the windshield. This car
is very comfortable, and at 6’1, fits me very well.
